Sri Lanka' s Minister of Tourism and Sports Navin Dissanayake made the appointment and it has already started work, the statement by Sri Lanka Cricket added.

The investigation report will be submitted to the Minister at the earliest, the SLC said.

Minister Dissanayake appointed former Test opener Sidath Wettimuny to head the nine-member interim committee to run the cricket board until elections are held.


Earlier Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that there are corruption allegations against the cricket administration and those should be investigated before holding elections to appoint a new board of the SLC.


Former members of SLC have assured their fullest support to the panel's inquiry and work for the betterment of Sri Lanka Cricket.


The former administrative body was removed after a new government was voted into power in January. Cricket is the most popular sport in Sri Lanka, avidly followed by the 20 million population.
