As the Jacksonville Jaguars head into the middle stretch of the season where they’re away from home three out of the next four weeks A. J. Cann Jersey , let’s take a look at how they’ve done through the first quarter of the season. We’ll be grading the offense and defense separately through the week and up now — the defense!Alfie Crow (@AlfieBCC)The Jacksonville Jaguars defense has been absurdly good and I think it’s been criminally underplayed because of our expectations. They don’t have a ton of turnovers or sacks, but they’ve allowed just four touchdowns in four games, two of which are garbage time touchdowns and you could argue a third. They are consistently hitting and putting pressure on the quarterback and teams are shying away from challenging Jalen Ramsey and AJ Bouye.Grade: A+Ryan Day (@ryaneatscake)We’re grading on a curve here and the defense is the best in football. So what that they don’t have the kind of sacks or turnovers they had at this point last year? The defense is good enough to win them every single game they play and they’d be 4-0 if the offense could have done something (anything!) in Week 3.Grade: AJon Kirland (@BCBCouch)The eyebrow-raising stats arent there thus far individually, but as a team when you’re the No. 1 defense in points allowed, total yards, and passing yardage, as well as No. 9 versus the run, through the first month of play there’s only one grade to give.Grade: ARyan O’Bleness (@ryanobleness)While the turnover numbers aren’t there, this defense has been every bit as good as advertised. Through the first four weeks of the season, the Jaguars lead the league in points per game allowed (14.0), total yards per game allowed (259.2) and passing yards per game allowed (164.2). Jacksonville is also in the top-10 against the run (95.0 yards allowed per game). The sacks and interceptions will come, but this unit has proven it doesn’t need to make big plays to beat you because it will simply not allow you to move the football. The defense is absolutely elite and should remain that way all season long. Grade: A+Brian Fullford (@iambwf)One might argue the sacks are down (thought 10 sacks over four games is not poor), as are the turnovers, which should impact the grade. To me this is like saying sacks are all that matters https://www.jaguarsfanstore.com/Marqise-Lee-Jersey , ignoring quarterback hits and/or pressures. The defense leads the league in yards per game, points per game, and passing yards per game. In spite of being -4 in the turnover margin, Jacksonville still holds a 3-1 record. The other teams with that rating are the Cardinals, Lions, and Bucs. Apart from shutting every team out, what more would you like them to do? The big names are doing their jobs, but it’s the likes of Tyler Patmon, Taven Bryan, and veteran D.J. Hayden who are all fitting in nicely. Top to bottom this is the best defense in the league four games in.We shall see the true value of this defense when they travel to Kansas City this coming weekend, but the defense has played well enough for this team to be 4-0. Right now Mahomes is the best, along with the Chiefs offense in general.Grade: A+Filip Prus (@JaxonFil)The Jaguars defense has allowed only four touchdowns in four games and currently leads the NFL and points and yards allowed per game. So why anything less than an A? Quite frankly, this team has not generated the amount of turnovers that they are capable of and are still underachieving based on their high goals set before the season. Dropped interceptions and penalties are a few things that need to be cleaned up, and while it may not be fair Telvin Smith Color Rush Jersey , when you hold yourself to an all-time defensive standard, you are going to be grading on that elite curve.Grade: B+ Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee, who led the team in receptions in 2017, injured his left knee in an exhibition game against Atlanta on Saturday.Lee was carted off the field after Falcons cornerback Damontae Kazee twisted his leg making a tackle. Lee fumbled on the play, but it was overturned because Kazee was flagged for tackling with his helmet.Lee had 56 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns last season. He signed a four-year, $34 million contract in March. It included $16.5 million guaranteed.A second-round draft pick from USC in 2014, Lee has 171 catches for 2,166 yards and eight touchdowns. He missed games in three of his first four seasons. If Lee is out for an extended time, the Jaguars will rely on Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook, Donte Moncrief and rookie DJ Chark to pick up the slack.___
