The patient is an African American man aged 40 years old. The patient had recently been hospitalized with recent stroke case about three months ago. He did not have his records with him at that moment. His wife wanted him to be checked out of hospital and stated that his 'cat scan' reveled stroke. The wife also reported that they had done numerous other tests and they did not find anything. The patient also had tobacco history of smoking 1 and half packets a day but he quitted five years ago. Also the patients take alcohol occasionally on social setting. His father died from myocardial infarction at the age of 64 and mother recently died at 76 from stroke. He has no siblings. Drug therapy and treatments The patient was prescribed with antihypertensive drugs which help in reducing recurrent strokes, myocardial infarction and all forms of vascular events (Lawrence, Fraser, Woods, & McCall, 2011; Perry, 2012). The patient was also prescribed with antiplatelet agent which the patient was given the option of choosing to continue with aspirin of 50 to 325 mgday monotherapy. or combine aspirin with extended-release dipyridamole that could be used twice per day or using the monotherapy of clopidogrel 75-mg ( Pavel Zacha Jersey , n.d.). Follow-up care The patient鈥檚 wife was advised to call in anytime the patient experienced muscle weakness or speech arrest. They were given an appointment after two weeks for more information on what to do in case of a stroke episode, for CT scan, for more medication and ultrasound exam (Perry, 2012).
