Ghana was expected to qualify from the group which included Germany and U.S.A following its sterling performance in the last edition of the tournament in South Africa four years ago.


However, the Black Stars disappointed its teeming fans with an average performance throughout the competition.

BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province was criticized Tuesday by an inspection team of the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) for its failure to supervise land reclamation and control water pollution.


Hainan's reclaimed land was mainly used for tourism and real estate, putting pressure on the marine environment, said the SOA team that carried out inspection from Aug. 22 to Sept. 21.


The inspection team said that in 2008, Hainan violated the regulations on sea area use by delegating approval power to coastal cities and counties. The misconduct was not corrected until 2015.

The province did not pay enough attention to nearshore waters with excessive discharge of waste water commonly found.

BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The State Oceanic Administration (SOA) on Sunday criticized the governments of east China's Jiangsu Province and northeastern Liaoning Province for failing to supervise land reclamation and control pollution along its coast.


An SOA inspection team exposed a number of flaws concerning land reclamation in Jiangsu after an investigation in the province from August to September, said a SOA press release.


The province made slow progress in restoring environment along its coast Cheap Air Max 2018 Online , the statement said, adding that it only finished restoring the environment along half of the 300-km targeted coastline required by the State Council.


The provincial government was also found to have violated state regulations by delegating the power of granting administrative approval for small land reclamation projects to the city government of Nantong, the statement said.
